Congregational Announcements

There will be a “Sermon Response Café” during Sunday school this morning in the multipurpose room following the fellowship time. All are invited to a time of round-table sharing in response to the “I pledge allegiance to…” theme that has been the focus of recent sermons. Discussion questions will be available, and there will be opportunity to share with others at your table, as well as with the larger group.

Blood pressure checks will be offered today in the Health and Wholeness room immediately following Sunday school.

Wednesday Night Out, October 7: All are welcome to our catered meal from 5:45-6:30 p.m. Join us at 7pm to hear from reporting by LMC members who attended Mennonite World Conference. Youth Group, Junior High, JGA’s and Torchbearers will meet from 7-8. Childcare will be provided for 0-3 years and 4 years-1st grade.

Upcoming sexuality sermon series: We recognize our upcoming preaching series on sexuality may be confusing for young children. Throughout the 7 weeks of the series we will offer a separate children’s worship time during the sermon. Children will return back to the service for the offering. Preschool worship will continue as regularly scheduled. If you are willing to “chaperone” the children’s time for one Sunday, please contact Gina Burkhart.

Prayer and Healing service: A service of prayer and healing is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 6:30 p.m.  Time will be taken in scripture and song as we open ourselves to seek God in prayer for the needs in our community and other friends and family with whom we walk closely.

Gym supervision: Are you willing to take turns with other adults supervising in the multipurpose room after Sunday school? If you are someone who enjoys kids and is able to encourage behaviors that are both safe and kind, we need you. Please contact Jonathan Bowman if you have interest or questions.

Hempfield Area Food pantry items for the month of October: peanut butter, jelly, canned soups and vegetables, any kind of pasta. Please drop off groceries at the information center. Thanks for your donations!

Workday at the Mennonite Central Committee Material Resources Center is Monday, November 9, 9:00-3:00.  Volunteer jobs may include processing kits, sewing, and helping with recycling projects. Quilting is always available for those who are interested.  Bring a brown bag lunch. Meet at the church to car pool at 8:15 am.

Water Street Mission Open House: Explore how God can use you to help individuals move out of homelessness, Sunday, October 11, 1:30 pm. Men from the Men’s Graduating Class will share “Stories of Life Change” and tours will be offering.
