“Were you there?” A walk through Holy Week
Our traditional service on April 1 (Maundy Thursday) will take a different shape this year. Following our series of worship services in Lent, our Holy Week worship service will invite us back into the experiences of Holy Week. Using guided reflections, scripture reading, sights and sounds, & acts of worship such as communion & prayer, you will be invited to walk through the days of Holy Week. More information to about the service will be provided in coming weeks.
Celebration of Church Life: Lancaster Mennonite Conference’s Leadership Assembly, Celebration of Church Life, is scheduled for the weekend of March 19-21. Friday will be a day of resourcing for pastoral leaders. Saturday will be a leadership assembly for congregational representatives. And Sunday will be a day of seminars and worship open to all. Those attending the activities on Saturday from Landisville Mennonite are Pastor Julia Fisher, Miriam Flores, Natalie Miller, Clarence Rutt, and Julia Zehr.
Good News Club volunteers needed: Over the last weeks we’ve heard affirmation about our congregation’s involvement with the Good News Club at the Hempfield Intermediate Center; however, we are in need of several additional volunteers to assist with the after school Bible Club. Our church’s ongoing participation in the club is dependent on the availability of at least two additional persons. This is a 7 week commitment running from March 10-April 21, Wednesday afternoons at the school from 3:00-5:00. This is a team-led bible class with materials provided, so preparation is a minimum of time commitment. Please contact Dan Burkhart ASAP with questions and if you are interested and available to participate.
Fair trade coffee, tea, and chocolate will be available for sale in the multi-purpose room after church Sunday.
Junior High Club: Sunday March 21. On the road again…testing how well you follow directions. 1:00-4:30 pm starting at the church. Bring a brown bag lunch. Ice cream sundaes at the final destination. Please sign up on the sheet provided in the Jr. High Club room.
Men’s Fraternity: We will continue the next 7 sessions of the Men’s Fraternity video series in April and May. Men, please join us for a time of spiritual and character development both individually and as a group. If you missed the first sessions, you are still welcome as we will review that material. Dates are April 7, 14, 21, 28 and May 12, 19, 26, from 6:30-8:00 pm. For more info. contact Steve Horst or Fred Miller.
Embroidery of newborn blankets: For several years our congregation has gifted families at Parent-Child dedications with a blanket, which contained embroidery with the baby’s name and birthday. Mae Stoltzfus most recently embroidered these blankets. We are currently looking for someone who would be willing to take the blankets to an Embroiderer so that this gift can continue. If you would be willing to assist in this, please contact a member of the pastoral team.
Meet God on the Mountain! Summer VBS here at Landisville Mennonite Church will be held July 11 – 15 (Sunday – Thursday evenings). Please see Brenda Horst or Nance Fertich if you would like to be a part of this community outreach, Bible-based, fun-filled week!
Help is needed in the nursery. Please add your name to the schedule posted on the nursery door & notify the church office. Thanks!
Urgent – buyer needed for the Ethiopian Church facility which is part of Landisville district. Due to space needs they would like to purchase the former Landisville Mennonite facility at 175 Church Street however that is contingent on selling their current property located at 143 Main Street in Salunga. The church seats 100+ with a list price of $129,900. All offers will be considered. Please give any possible leads to Dave Yoder. Your help is needed and appreciated!
